My father has just been to Nepal and he has really amazed me by climbing to the base camp of Mount Everest at the ripe old age of seventy. He has always been very fit and goes to the gym every morning but to attempt a feat like that is just really spectacular I think. He was the oldest person on the exhibition and he thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The other day we had a party for him and he had a projector in the living room to show us all photographs of the trip. He also bought many thinks back from his trip with him and one of the most welcome gifts were a pair of alpaca pashminas for my sister and I. We were absolutely delighted with these alpaca pashminas as they are really lightweight but really warm at the same time. It seems that alpaca is a really good type of wool that is incredibly warming and we are both really looking forward to wearing them. The photographs my father showed from his trip were truly stunning and we did get a real sense of the physical heights that he has ascended. He was really pleased with the whole thing and I really would not be surprised if he does it again.

knitting kits

I work in the office of a local school and every so often there is a man who comes around selling everything from books to children`s toys. The other day he came around with some knitting kits and immediately they grabbed everyone`s attention. Somebody had told me on a separate occasion recently that knitting kits were very popular as knitting had become a really trendy activity amongst the middle classes. Although I was surprised at this when I heard it, I could tell that this person was not wrong as I witnessed the excitement displayed by all of the school staff at the knitting kits. When the man came back to collect his order he was equally surprised and delighted that he had sold a record number of these kits to the people in school. Since then we have had people bringing in their woollen creations on a daily basis and there seems to be almost a competition going on to see who can create the most outlandish design. I am amazed by the renewed popularity in knitting but I do have to say that it keeps the staff of my school amused.

ladies knitwear

My mother sells ladies knitwear and has done now for many years. She has her own stall on the indoor market in the centre of town and she really seems to be in her element in her job. The ladies knitwear that she sells is actually seconds from large branded names and she always has a fantastic range of styles and colours for the most reasonable prices. She has therefore built up a large collection of faithful customers over the years and a lot of these customers are now very good friends of hers. Indeed, one of her best friends now who has been her friend for many years initially met my mother when she was looking for some ladies knitwear. They got on really well right from the start and now they are so close that they often go on holiday together in the sun. I am really pleased for my mother that she has had such a happy time in her working life as this is something that many of us don`t get to do. Sometimes I worry about the fact that she is getting older and that she won`t be able to continue with her job for ever but, at the moment, she seems to be having a great time. Long may it continue.
